Our History

Ritchey, Ritchey & Koontz, Certified Public Accountants, was established in 1955 by Caryl B. Ritchey. Randy Ritchey joined the firm in 1981 after working for the General Accounting Office and Cotton & Company in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area. Caryl Ritchey retired in January 1988 and Bruce Koontz became a partner with Randy Ritchey. Mr. Koontz's background was in corporate accounting, spending several years with Hedstrom Company and JLG Industries. Brad Koontz joined the firm during 1995 as Audit Manager after working for Coopers & Lybrand LLP in Washington, DC.  In 2002, the firm opened a branch office in Martinsburg, PA.  Jeff Koontz became the branch manager after previously working for regional accounting firms in the York and Philadelphia areas.  In 2011, Aaron Ritchey, joined our firm after working for KPMG LLP, Marriott International and Goodman & Company LLP, a regional accounting firm in Virginia.  In 2014, Brad, Jeff, & Aaron joined their fathers as partners in the firm.

We are a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants - Division for CPA firms and Government Audit Quality Center, and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
